Diesel fracking patent teaches fracking mixtures

United States Patent 4,828,034 entitled “Method of hydrating oil based fracturing concentrate and continuous fracturing process using same” was issued in 1989 to Vernon Constien and Harold Brannon. Although it is an old patent that is no longer in force, it teaches one of the ways that diesel fuel may be used as a portion of the fracturing fluid slurry. The patent teaches the activation of a hydratable polymer during the fracturing process. In the process a hydratable polymer such as hydroxypropyl guar is mixed in diesel followed by the high shear mixing of the diesel composition with water so that the desired viscosity is reached after which particulates are mixed in and the resulting composition is injected for fracking. The figure below shows the mixing configuration of the invention.
