The National Toxicology Program has reclassified formaldehyde from “reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen” to “known human carcinogen.” According to reports available at the 12th Report on Carcinogens of June 10, 2011 formaldehyde can be found in adhesives, particleboard, mortuaries, and hair smoothing products. The report indicates that formaldehyde is primarily an occupational hazard for those who work closely with formaldehyde and formaldehyde containing products.
