Invention turns waste plastic back into oil

Wolf-Eberhard Nill of Stuttgart, Germany has invented a process in which reclaimed plastics undergo a series of heating steps and phase separation steps to obtain longchain hydrocarbons from the plastic. The process uses a cracking tower to break those hydrocarbons into short chain hydrocarbons to produce an oil gas which is ultimately condensed into oil. Mr. Nill was granted United States Patent 7,847,136 for the invention. The patent was assigned to Nill Tech GmbH, also from Germany.
