DOE commits over $125MM to 21 carbon sequestration and use projects

The US Department of Energy has in two separate efforts in the past month has committed over $125 million dollars to the storing of carbon from carbon dioxide in geologic formations and in useful products.  Where DOE has decided to spend the grant money should be an interesting indicator of the directions that carbon sequestration technology is progressing.  The technologies represented include a variety of basic geologic research activities and some very interesting products that end up as CO2 based products.  I will be profiling some of that work in the coming week.
