EPA declines request to regulate lead in ammunition

The EPA had denied a petition calling for the Agency to take action to eliminate the presence of lead in hunting ammunition. The petition was filed under the Toxic Substances Control Act.  According to the EPA, regulating lead in ammunition is outside the regulatory authority of the Agency.  The Agency further stated that there are no similar limitations relating to jurisdiction preventing them from regulating the use of lead in fishing sinkers.  (EPA Press Release)
