Patent on How to Convert Medical Waste into Electricity Without Combustion

Galloway Fuel Cell System

Galloway Fuel Cell System

Terry R. Galloway of Berkeley, CA has invented a non-combustion fuel cell based system for the conversion of carbonaceous feedstocks into syngas, cleaning the syngas in a manner that reduces the poisoning of a fuel cell, and using that fuel cell to convert the syngas into electricity.  The cleaning operations involve a high temperature filter, a high temperature getter bed reactor (hot iron oxide), and a condenser.

Although the Patent Office records do not indicate that the invention has been assigned, one of the parent applications was assigned to Intellergy Corporation also of Berkley California.  According to the Intellergy website the technology that the company is currently providing has a history of use in the elimination of pharmaceutical waste.  Further information about the technology can be found in US Patent No. 7,753,973.
