Technique for minimizing damage from injected drill cuttings

United States Patent No. 7,890,307 to Geehan, et al. teaches a method for using computer simulations of what will happen when drilling cuttings are injected to into the earth so that better decisions can be made to minimize the damage to the geologic formation into which the cuttings are being injected. Both of the inventors are from Texas and the patent was assigned to M-I L.L.C. of Houston, TX.

Developments of this variety are important because as oil and gas becomes more difficult to get out of the ground, drilling techniques have become more aggressive. Methods, such as those taught in this patent, may help mitigate the damage caused by the use of these more aggressive techniques and provide better preservation of the geologic formations being explored.
